The Synoptic Gospels

Matthew, Mark, and Luke have many similarities and differences. Because of their similarities, they are called the Synoptic Gospels. The Synoptic Gospels all have Jesus preforming many of the same miracles and parables. Another similarity is that Matthew, Mark, and Luke all talk about the calling of the first disciples. Also, 'Jesus goes before Pilate' is mentioned in all of the Synoptics. Although there are many similarities, there are also differences. The book of Luke provides more detail than Matthew and Mark provide. Jesus' birth is mentioned in Matthew and Luke, but not Mark. Luke provides greater detail of his birth than Matthew does. Matthew and Luke are set in the same general area, but Mark is set near the Sea of Galilee. These are just a few similarities and differences, but there are many more.
